Counting Buttons

 

How many buttons are in your bucket?  We use buttons to classify tens and ones and add by counting the piles of tens and the piles of one to create double digit numbers.

Base ten pieces

Math may be drastically different from the way you learned it as a child.  We use base ten pieces as a visual and hands on approach to place value and counting.  These pieces are always available to students and encouraged when working on any math concept.

One of the biggest concepts that we are working on in math is helping the students develop a firm concept of numbers to 1,000.  Having a firm number sense helps in all areas of math development.  We use a variety of tools and manipulatives to develop this concept.
